Dina Wakley – Art Journal Courage

Dina Wakley has just published a new book called Art Journal Courage.  I already have Dina’s first book called Art Journal Freedom and I love it so I was excited to be able to get my hands on her second book.  I have to say that her new book is pretty amazing.

Dina’s book has eight chapters and the artwork throughout the book is just luscious and so inspiring. Whether you are an experienced or beginner in the field of Art Journaling, this book will inspire you just as it has me. Dina even shows you how to make yourself into a stencil.

I have been art journaling for a few years and I have kept a diary for as long as I can remember . . .  but one of the things I tell myself and everyone else is that “I can’t draw”  well Dina covers this very statement in her book and you know what? with the help and step by step directions in her book, I believe that I CAN draw.  Starting tomorrow I will be practicing. . . .

Art Journal Page

this is the class project for Adventures in Art Journaling for September.

I used ColorWash fabric spray by Ranger along with gesso for the background and pieces of Gelli prints and collage papers for my little village.

I have been reading recent facebook posts by Ken Oliver, who is talking about and showing images of the small town he recently moved to.  Ken is making me want to try living in a small village so I think this is where the inspiration for this page came from.

You can take this class with me on Thursday September 18th or Saturday September 20th.

edited to add:  The class on September 20th is sold out

Working in a mini Art Journal

I have this little Canson Mix Media Journal and I usually use it to brayer left over paint or wipe my used paintbrush in it.  I started working in it recently completing some of the pages.

I used stamps from Dina Wakley, 7 Gypsies and Dylusions.  There is a little Gelli Print added to the top of the left page and the bottom of the right page.

I think I may be addicted to the mini journal. . . . more pages to come!

August’s Art Journal Page

So here is a little peek at a page in progress for the August’s class – An Adventure in Art Journaling.

In the background we used Dye-na-flow dyes, a gel medium resist along with a Stampendous stamp.  I can’t quite make up my mind yet, if I am going to add seaweed for her hair or if I am going to use some buildings for her hair, so for now she is unfinished. . . . .

July’s Art Journal Page

I teach a class called An Adventure in Art Journaling once a month at Everything Scrapbook & Stamps.  This was July’s page.

I used Dylusions White linen mixed with London Blue, Vibrant Turquoise, and Fresh Lime, I also used Dylusions stamps for my stamped images.

This page was to remind me to focus, sometimes I feel overwhelmed with all the things that need to be done and I need to focus on one task at a time.
